A data duplicate recording device reads out data from a first recording medium (171A) and records the read out data into a second recording medium (171B). Here, if the coding method of the read out data is judged not to be a predetermined coding method enabling reproduction of data from the second recording medium (171B), the read out data is converted into coding data based on the predetermined coding method. Moreover, for the read out data, it is also judged whether to rearrange data according to management information read out together with the data. According to the judgment result, data is rearranged so as to obtain reproduction without a break. The data processed so as to follow the predetermined coding method and be aligned continuously are successively recorded in a series of area of the second recording medium (171).
