<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the user to easily enter characters by inputting a voice. <P>SOLUTION: A voice inputted from the microphone 14 of a portable telephone 1 is converted into digital voice data via a voice communication part 18, a telephone circuit 4, and a modulator 2, and is supplied to the voice recognizer 32 of a computer 3, and voice recognition is performed, and the results of recognition are sent back to the portable telephone 1 via a packet communication part 35 and a communication circuit 5. The recognition results, received via the packet communication part 19, are indicated on a display 12 after being compiled in a character editing section 16. When a modification command for instructing the modification of the recognition results is inputted from a button control element 13, it is transmitted to a computer 3 via the communication circuit 5, and the modification results are sent back and are indicated on the display 12.
