PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for printing an image that utilizes data of digital broadcasting multiplexed on a broadcast wave of the digital broadcasting to provide part of the video image of the digital broadcasting as a plurality of still pictures to users, allows the users to optionally select and print out the still pictures so that the users eliminate the need for having a memory of large capacity and can select a printed picture. SOLUTION: A broadcast station side transmits a digital broadcasting wave comprising video and audio information with a broadcast wave of data broadcast multiplexed therewith, provides part of the video image of the digital broadcasting as contents of the data broadcasting comprising a plurality of still pictures to the users, and a receiver side receiving the broadcast wave of the digital broadcasting separates the wave of the data broadcasting from the broadcast wave of the digital broadcasting and prints out an optional still picture in the separated data broadcast wave.
