PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drying apparatus in which a belt-like support having a wide coating film can be dried at a high drying speed so that the coated side and the reverse side of the belt-like support are not brought into contact with a support incoming port and a support outgoing port of the apparatus even if the carrying-in and outgoing ports are narrowed in order to increase the energy efficiency and the drying efficiency and to provide a drying method and an image forming material manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This drying apparatus for drying the belt-like support while conveying it on which the coating film is already formed by applying a coating liquid onto the continuously conveying belt-like support is provided with a drying zone, a holding means for conveying the belt-like support having the coating film, a spraying means for spraying heated air toward the belt-like support and tenters arranged in the carrying-in and carrying-out ports for holding both sides of the belt-like support and conveying the belt-like support under the condition that the tensile strength of 10-300 N/m is exerted on the belt-like support in the width direction.
