PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-hardening binder composition for a mold which can be hardened even in the low temperature region of 10 to 110°C without generating harmful gas such as amines and sulfur dioxide even on pouring and without depending on the kinds of molding sands. SOLUTION: The binder composition for a mold contains (A) casting sands, (B) a resol type phenol resin, (C) alkaline earth metal oxide and/or alkaline earth metal hydroxide and (D) the salts of sulfur atom-containing oxoacid and a nitrogen atom-containing base.
