MAGNETIC DETECTING ELEMENT, ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD, MAGNETIC HEAD, AND MAGNETIC REPRODUCING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MI type magnetic detecting element that can effectively impress a bias magnetic field upon a magnetic core in a power-saving way and is reduced in the possibility of erasing magnetization recorded on media, etc., by suppressing leakage magnetic fields from the element. SOLUTION: This magnetic detecting element has a pair of shield cores 103 and 104 composed of soft magnetic films A, a magnetic core disposed between the shield cores 103 and 104 and composed of a soft magnetic film B, and a nonmagnetic and nonconductive film 105 interposed between the shield cores 103 and 104 and magnetic core 105. This element also has a means 102 which impresses a DC bias magnetic field upon the magnetic core 105 in a direction parallel to the magnetic field detecting direction and another means which makes SC carrier signals to flow to the magnetic core 105 in a direction perpendicular to the magnetic field detecting direction. The means 102 which impresses the DC bias magnetic field upon the magnetic core 105 is disposed on a portion separated from a magnetic field detecting surface. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
