A method and a device for acquiring a finger pattern, the method including the steps of:i) sensing a first set of characteristics of a line segment of the tip of a finger using a first line sensor, j) relatively moving the tip of the finger and the first line sensor to obtain a plurality of line segments,k) storing data corresponding to said line segments as first sub-images andl) combining data of a plurality of sub-images to form a representation of at least a section of the finger pattern,m) sensing at least a second set of characteristics of a line segment of the tip of a finger using at least a second line sensor, said second set of characteristics being different from said first set of characteristics,n) relatively moving the tip of the finger and the second line sensor,o) storing data corresponding to said line segments as second sub-images andp) combining a first representation of at least a section of the finger pattern based on the first set of characteristics with a second representation of at least a section the finger pattern based on the second set of characteristics to form a representation of the finger pattern. |
