The sheath is folded from a flat section, which has parallel fold lines (2-7) to form corners of adjacent sheaths. Punching lines and perforations along the middle of the flat section enable adjacent sheaths to be folded. Protective sheaths not separated by a punching line are fixed by connecting their side walls. The sheath is folded from a flat section, which has parallel fold lines (2-7) to form corners of adjacent sheaths. The protective sheaths are subdivided rectangularly in relation to the fold lines by a sequence consisting of material web (16), punching line (18), perforation line (35), punching line (17), material webs (13,15), punching line (10), perforation line (14), punching line (11) and material web (12), on which the unfolded sheaths can be bent. The surface between both adjacent webs of material is interrupted parallel to the fold lines and up to a lateral edge, so that several sheaths can be formed by folding over the fold lines to the punching line (19) through 90[deg], separating the material webs (12,13,15,16) and kinking the perforation lines in different poistions, at different length ratios of the punching lines in different positions. The protective sheaths that are not separated by the punching line (19) are fixed by connecting their side walls (20,26).
