PURPOSE: A device and method of operating a rear wiper of a vehicle is provided to improve safety by functional improvement of the rear wiper, increase worker's operation efficiency and convenience, and improve performance of the rear wiper. CONSTITUTION: A device of operating a rear wiper of a vehicle comprises an intermittent working switch(1) operated in intermittently operating the wiper; an automatic switch(2) operated to make the wiper automatically operated; a washer switch(3) to decide to spray washer liquid; a front wiper control unit(4) detecting rain fall through a rain sensor(7), and controlling driving of front wiper-low/high-speed relays(5,6); the front wiper-low/high-speed relays supplying source voltage corresponding to the output signal of the front wiper control unit to a wiper motor(8) and a washer liquid injection motor, through a wiper-functional ability driving unit(9); the wiper-functional ability driving unit driving the wiper motor and the washer liquid injection motor at low or high speed, according to the source voltage supplied through the front wiper-low/high-speed relays; a rear wiper-intermittent working switch(10) operated in operating the rear wiper at intervals of predetermined time; a rear wiper switch(11) operated to control driving of the rear wiper; a rear washer switch(12) to decide to spray rear washer liquid; a rain sensor-interlocking rear wiper control unit(13) detecting rain fall through the rain sensor, and controlling driving of a rear wiper relay(14); and the rear wiper relay supplying source voltage corresponding to the output signal of the rain sensor-interlocking rear wiper control unit, to a rear wiper motor(15) and the washer liquid injection motor.
