The selective engagement of pairs of toothed wheels (e.g. 6) with the associated output and input shafts (e.g. 3) is effected by a spindle drive (16) featuring an electric motor (19) built into the selector fork, whose head (13) enters a groove (14) in an axially movable claw ring (5). - The sleeve of the spindle drive has an internally threaded section (18) corresp. to the external thread (17) of the gear shaft (11). The fork can be positioned exactly with only a few revolutions of the motor (19).
