PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torsional vibrator with which the transmission efficiency of the excitation torque to a test specimen can be improved, and the torsional vibration characteristic in a high frequency range can be measured. SOLUTION: In the configuration in which a driving body 13 and a coil to which the AC current is supplied are disposed between a pair of excitation magnets 11 and 12 to generate the magnetic flux in a predetermined direction, and the driving body 13 is vibrated around the axis by the interaction between the magnetic flux generated by this coil and the magnetic flux generated by the excitation magnets 11 and 12, the coil is separated from the driving body 13 to eliminate any increase in the inertia moment of the driving body 13 by the increase in the turns of the coil. The coil is provided on inner and outer sides across a cylindrical part 13a of the driving body 13, and inner and outer coils 14 and 15 increase the excitation torque on the test specimen 20.
