PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screw-inspecting apparatus for easily judging that a screw is not conforming by reliably detecting the failure in the screw since the groove of the screw is not within a depth reference value by a simple mechanism. SOLUTION: The screw-inspecting apparatus comprises a gear 1 having a gear cog 1A which coincides with (or does not coincide with) the depth reference value of a groove 10A in a screw 10 to be measured, and a body 2 for retaining the gear 1 rotatably. When the body 2 is moved in the axial direction of the screw 10, the groove 10A of the gear 10 and the gear cog 1A of the gear 1 are engaged each other only when the groove 10A of the screw 10 is not within the depth reference value (or is within the depth reference value), the gear 1 is rotated to easily detect the failure in the screw since the screw groove is shallow (or deep) by the screw-inspecting apparatus. Preferably, gears are mounted to each of three arms that are provided in a regular triangle around the body. Then, in the case of an external thread, the thread is inserted among three gears and the body is moved for inspection.
