PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device of a passenger conveyor capable of determining whether a restart is allowed or not by identifying an operated abnormality detection element. SOLUTION: This safety device comprises an operating circuit connected to an operating switch 30 for starting and stopping the passenger conveyor formed by serially connecting the contacts of the abnormality detection element installed on the passenger conveyor at a specified position and operated when an abnormality is detected. The device comprises a detection element identifying means 60 for identifying the abnormality detection element operated by detecting the opening/closing of the contacts of the abnormality detection means and display means 29 and 68 for displaying the identified results of the detection element identifying means 60.
