PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system in which information can be acquired at a low cost by using a telephone set such as portable telephone to utilize a public line, the information can be widely provided regardless of the type of the telephone set and there are merits for both a demander and an information provider. SOLUTION: In this information providing system using telephone set, a database relating the telephone number to E-mail address of a telephone set 1 to be used by the demander is stored in a server 2, one or two or more pieces of information prepared to be provided to the demander are stored in a server 3, and a public telephone line 6 corresponding to the information to be provided is prepared. When a telephone call is from a public telephone line 6, the caller number reporting function of that public telephone line 6 is used and when there is a telephone number matching the telephone number on the database, E-mail A recording information corresponding to the public telephone line 6, to which the telephone call is incoming, is transmitted through the Internet to the correspondent E-mail address on the database.
