PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe joint with reduced manufacturing cost and enhanced reliability by preventing the number of parts from increasing as much as possible. SOLUTION: In this joint, a tapered face 6 which is reduced in diameter toward openings 2 is formed at the inner peripheral part of each half part of a cylindrical body 1 to joint pipes A, B, and a diameter-reducible elastic wedge ring 7 is disposed at the large inner diameter part of the tapered face 6. In order to push out the wedge ring 7 along the tapered face 6 to reduce the diameter, when the pipes A, B are about to slip off, a rubber layer 10 capable of coming into close contact with the pipes A, B is provided adjacently to the wedge ring 7 being engagedly held to the inner side of a sliding ring 8 smoothly slidable along the inner periphery of the cylindrical body 1. When the wedge ring 7 is put in the diameter reduced state, the wedge ring 7 bites into the outer peripheral surfaces of the pipes A, B, preclude the slip-off of the pipes A, B.
