PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous emulsion composition excellent in viscosity stability during standing, water resistance and adhesion in boiling water. SOLUTION: This aqueous emulsion composition is composed of an aqueous emulsion (A) and a hydrazine compound (B). In the emulsion (A), a vinyl alcohol-based polymer containing 1-20 mol% of anα-olefin unit having 4 or less carbons in the molecule and having a degree of saponification of 90 mol% or more is a dispersant and a polymer containing 0.1-10 pts.wt. of a monomer unit having a carbonyl group in the molecule per 100 pts.wt. of a vinyl ester monomer unit is a dispersoid.
