PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic gel material suitable for uses, such as a cushioning material for mattresses or a cushioning material for sofas, for which odorlessness is desirable. SOLUTION: The gel material essentially consists of a hydrogenated styrene block copolymer, as a base resin, of a molecular weight of below 200,000 and a highly refined paraffin as a softener and has an Asker FP hardness of 0-90. Because the material has an appropriately low molding temperature, it can be heated without deterioration or decomposition resulting in the emission of an oily odor. When it is used as a cushioning material for a mattress, its odor can therefore be reduced to at most a level on which it can not perceived even in a sensitive state during sleep.
