PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio receiving system and a method for controlling a weight updating algorithm capable of weight updating at a converging speed suitable for a propagating environment. SOLUTION: At a weight updating starting time, the weight updating is executed at an RLS in which a calculating load is large but a weight converging speed is fast. If a weight inferring error becomes smaller than a first threshold value, the weight updating algorithm is switched to an LMS in which the load is small but the weight converging speed is slow. Thereafter, when the weight inferring error is increased to exceed a second threshold value larger than the first threshold value, the algorithm is switched from the LMS to the RLS, and the weight converging of a faster speed is executed. Thus, the increase in the weight inferring error is prevented, and an adaptive array process having excellent directivity can be realized.
