PURPOSE: A method for adaptively preventing lock based on a rising-impossible lock concept is provided to efficiently manage the lock resources by using quasi-lock rising and lock blocking based on a rising-impossible lock concept and to enhance the performance of a database management system by serially performing transaction without the stoppage of activation. CONSTITUTION: Quasi-lock rising is used based on the number of rising-impossible locks. Lock blocking is used based on the number of the rising-impossible locks. When all transactions are in the standby state and no more lock resources exist, selective forcible performance is used. Quasi-lock rising and lock blocking are released based on the total of rising-impossible locks. The adaptive lock rising method is realized by a lock rising manager(305) of a lock manager(304) in a database management system(303).
