PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a promoted catalyst wherein the activity is greatly enhanced as to the base catalyst and hence the overall yield of the product is also greatly enhanced. SOLUTION: There is provided a promoted catalyst containing a mixed metal oxide having the empirical formula: AaMbNcXdIreSmfOg (wherein A is selected from Mo and W; M is selected from V and Ce; N is selected from Te, Sb, and Se; X is selected from Nb, Ta, Ti, etc.; and when a=1, b=0.01-1.0, c=0.01-1.0, d=0.01-1.0, e=0 or =0.001-0.1, and f=0 or =0.001-0.1, and g depends on the oxidation states of the other elements, provided that both e and f can not be simultaneously 0). |
