PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axially-hollowed fishing rod, capable of preventing a fishline from sticking to the inner surface of a hollow through which the fishline threads in an axial direction of the rod for a long period. SOLUTION: This axially-hollowed fishing rod has a middle rod 3 the bottom section of which is equipped with a cylinder-shaped sponge material 10 on the outer periphery. The outer diameter of the sponge material 10 is approximately equal to the maximum inner diameter of a main butt rod 2, so that the sponge material makes itself elastically deform to be received into the main butt rod 2 together with the middle rod 3. A water repellant S is added to the sponge material 10, so that the inner surface of the main butt rod 3 can be furnished with water-repelling treatment, by making the middle rod 3 insert into and withdraw from the main butt rod 2.
