PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which decides whether a motor, such as a disc drive system multiphase motor, etc., is rotating. SOLUTION: First, electrical characteristics of one phase of a motor is detected. The electrical characteristics are sensed a plurality of turns and the measurement based upon the times corresponding to them is carried out, to decide whether the rotor of the motor is rotating. If it is decided that the rotor is not turning, the rotor is rotated at an operation enabled speed, whereas if it is decided that the rotor is turning, a resynchronization operation is carried out, to synchronize the application of a drive signal with respect to the phase winding of the motor with the dynamic position of the rotor. |
