PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for the oral cavity capable of masking and reducing a bitter taste and alleviating a bitter taste even in an acidic region and having an excellent sense of use although the composition contains a silica compound, further readily providing white, smooth and glossy teeth besides alleviation of a bitter taste by using both a compound exhibiting acidity and a fluorine compound and yet having excellent safety and simply providing white, smooth and glossy teeth by daily tooth brushing without requiring a dentist's guidance and treatment since no bleaching agent such as a peroxide, etc. is used. SOLUTION: This composition for the oral cavity comprises (A) a silica compound and (B) a citrous essential oil.
