PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the dispersibility of a filler in a coating liquid for forming a surface layer containing a resin binder, the filler and, optionally, an electric charge transferring material disposed on a photosensitive layer and to obtain a high durability electrophotographic photoreceptor. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the electrophotographic photoreceptor by disposing at least a photosensitive layer on an electrically conductive substrate and a surface layer containing a resin binder, a filler and, optionally, an electric charge transferring material on the photosensitive layer, a coating liquid for forming the surface layer is prepared with a dispersing machine using media, and the amount of powder of the media mixed in the coating liquid by abrasion in the dispersing step is 0.2-20 wt.% of the amount of the filler.
