PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state image sensor which does not require the input of light and in which the trouble of a sample-and-hold system is evaluated specifically with respect to its performance. SOLUTION: At the output end of the horizontal transfer line of a CCD image sensor 105, a current source which is used to inject an electric charge into the output end and which can be controlled to be turned on and off is installed. At a system controller 112, a self-diagnostic function unit 112a is installed. The unit 112a closes a mechanical shutter at an exposure control mechanism so as to be set to a light-shielding state, and it controls the image sensor 105 to a state that the electric charge from the pixel of the image sensor 105 is not transferred to an output amplifier. The current source is turned on. In this state, the level of a signal fetched to a digital process circuit 108 via an A/D converter is analyzed. A sample-and-hold circuit (CDS-IC) 107a at the first stage of a preprocess circuit 107 is evaluated. |
