PURPOSE: Provided is a method for characterizing charcoal used in manufacturing furnace coke, particularly measuring decomposition behavior of the charcoal. CONSTITUTION: The method for characterizing charcoal used in manufacturing furnace coke comprises measuring the content of solvent soluble powders of unpulverized charcoal before and after heat treating them within melting temperatures, respectively.
