PIN-FINNED HEAT SINK

PURPOSE: A pin-finned heat sink is provided to achieve a maximized heat transfer efficiency by improving the shape and arrangement of the pins, while improving energy efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A heat sink(2) has a bottom portion(4) contacting a semiconductor device, and a plurality of pins(1) protruded from the bottom portion of the heat sink. The bottom portion has an upper surface(3) and the cross sectional area of which is shaped as a convex. The pins protruded from the upper surface of the bottom portion are arranged in such a manner that the pins having the same cross sectional areas are protruded from the inner central portion of the upper surface of the bottom portion of the heat sink, and the pins having lower ends with cross sectional areas increasing as it goes from the center toward outside are arranged in the portion except the inner central portion. Thus, heat sink with pins arranged into a natural convection type, is obtained.
