PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-voltage variable resistor, which is equipped with an insulating case composed of tow insulating case pieces fitted to each other in one piece, where the two insulating case pieces can be surely fitted to each other, coming into close contact with each other, and a board can be surely fixed inside the insulating case, ensuring input and the grounding electrode of an electrical conduction means to the backside of the board, without providing a slit to each of the four corners of the board. SOLUTION: An engaging means is provided to the sidewalls of a first and a second insulating case, respectively, and the engaging means are engaged with each other, by which the first insulating case and second insulating case are fitted to each other in one piece. A board is fitted into a recess provided to the inner sidewall of the insulating case, by which the board is housed and fixed inside the insulating case. Furthermore, a conductor is arranged on the backside of the board inside the insulating case, so as to come into contact with a contact electrode formed on the backside of the board through a through- hole bored from above the surface of the board, and the board is thrusted and fixed by the above conductor.
