PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of parts, to facilitate the mounting of parts, to set an optical spot in a desired shape and to reduce the fluctuation of a spot diameter between image heights in an optical scanning device which optically scans a plurality of faces to be scanned by using a common optical deflector. SOLUTION: In the optical scanning device where the optical deflector 5 deflects luminous flux from at least one light source whose light intensity can be modulated, scanning/image-forming optical systems 6A, 7A, 6B and 7B converge deflected luminous flux toward the faces to be scanned 9A and 9B and the optical spot is formed on the face to be scanned so as to perform optical scanning, a plurality of faces to be scanned 9A and 9B, which are optically scanned, are arranged in parallel across the common optical deflector 5, the optical deflector 5 deflects luminous flux by the rotation of a deflection reflection face. The rotary axis of the deflection reflection face is parallel to the deflection reflection face. The two faces to be scanned 9A and 9B, which sandwich the reflection 5, are optically scanned by luminous flux from one light source 1.
