An image receiving sheet characterized by comprising an image receiving layer composed of a metal ion containing compound capable of forming chelate with athermally transferable dye and an acryl resin composed of styrene and acrylonitrile as component unit, and an image forming method employing it are disclosed. Discoloration or smudge are prevented, glossiness is excellent, dye acceptability is high and image storage stability is good.
