An activity centre for use by a person having developed motor skills, comprising a soft, pliant base member having an upper surface and a lower surface; securing members for securing the base member to the person's lap or to another supporting surfac e in close proximity to the person and a plurality of activity devices secured to the base member, the activity devices comprising a plurality of different items to stimulate the tactile sense of the person and for repetitive manipulation by the person, whereby engaging the activity devices has a calming and occupying effect on the person.
