PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic resistive element which has uniform volumetric specific resistance and less variation in a product and high reliability, and a holding material. SOLUTION: The ceramic resistive element consists of a sintered compact of which the main crystal phase is aluminum nitride. The volumetric specific resistance is 1×107-1×1012 Ωcm at 50 deg.C. The ratio of the maximum value Rmax of the volumetric specific resistance of the sintered compact toward the thickness in the same face at 50 deg.C to the minimum value Rmin (Rmax/Rmin) is 100 or less.
