PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an aliphatic polyester having sufficient moldability and properties for practical purposes in a shortened reaction time by a simplified reaction step with a reduced energy loss compared to the conventional technique. SOLUTION: This aliphatic polyester is manufactured by reacting maleic anhydride, a 2-20C glycol, and hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst.
