CYAN COLORANT COMPOSITION AND ITS PRODUCTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bright cyan colorant composition which can be obtained generally at a low cost and has high functionality and sufficient brightness and to provide a method for producing the same wherein a method based on the hydrolysis of a metal alkoxide is not used; a high-priced metal alkoxide or a highly inflammable organic solvent is not used; a producion facility and an explosinproof apparatus are not needed; and the control of temperature and humidity is easy. SOLUTION: This colorant composition contains a cyan powder which has at least one layer of a covering film formed on the surface of each base particle by the reaction of a metal salt in an aqueous solvent and which exhibits a reflection spectrum having a peak in the range of 350-550 nm. Preferably, the at least one layer of a covering film is formed as an aggregate of crystallized fine particles having voids.
