摘要 PURPOSE: An oxide such as barium titanate having perovskite structure, which has a small particle diameter, few hydroxyl group, large c/a axial ratio and sufficient ferroelectricity is provided. CONSTITUTION: The oxide having perovskite structure, for example barium titanate is produced by the steps of i) mixing a metal carbonate powder and a metal oxide powder having a specific surface area of 10m¬2/g or more and ii) heat-treating the mixed powder at the partial pressure of oxygen of 2 x 10¬3 Pa or less. In the heat treatment step, in the case in which a partial pressure of oxygen is 2 x 10¬3 Pa or less and more than 2 x 10¬2 Pa, the heat treatment is performed at a temperature within the range 700 to 1100 deg.C. In the case in which a partial pressure of oxygen is decreased to 2 x 10¬2 Pa or less, the heat treatment is performed at a temperature within the range 600-1100 deg.C.
