FILE MANAGING METHOD

Conventionally, it is necessary to ensure a management area and another management area for backup in a file system so as to execute backup by separately providing a management area and an actual data area and thereby doubling the management area. Therefore the maximum number of files manageable is limited due to the size of the management areas. Further in a file system where management information and data are recorded in the same area, there is no concept of management area, and therefore the technique of doubling the management area cannot be used. Each time an action such as addition, alteration, or deletion of a file with respect to a recording or recorded medium, history information such that the file identifier of the file is related to the information on the position where the file is recorded on the recorded medium and to the type of the action to the file is created in order. The history information is recorded in order of creation in a history table area different from the recorded area where the file and the management information are recorded.
