PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for lowering the charging voltage of a battery and to prevent the lifetime thereof from being damaged. SOLUTION: The DC power supply comprises a charger 1 for converting an AC input power 8 into a DC power; a battery 2 comprising a series connection of a plurality of cells being charged with DC power from the charger 1; a first wiring circuit breaker 3 provided between the battery 2 and a load 9 connected in parallel therewith; a series circuit of a second wiring circuit breaker 4 and a resistor 5 connected in parallel with the first wiring circuit breaker 3; a third wiring circuit breaker 6 connected in parallel with the resistor 5; and a control means 7 for sequentially turning the third wiring circuit breaker 6 off, turning the first wiring circuit breaker 3 on, and turning the second wiring circuit breaker 4 off at the time of charging the battery 2 and sequentially turning the second wiring circuit breaker 4 on, turning the first wiring circuit breaker 3 off, and turning the third wiring circuit breaker 6 on at the time of discharging the battery 2.
