The object of the invention is a method for determining the strain of construction. In the method, measuring sensors (2; 2a), such as strain gauges, are arranged to preselected measuring points (1) of the construction; measuring data, such as stress data is collected from the measuring sensors (2; 2a); and the measuring data is transmitted into the data processing unit (7), in which the measuring data is analysed for obtaining strain data from different measuring points of the constructions. According to the invention, the measuring data is collected and processed real-time so that the measuring data is converted into digital measuring signals and relayed to the master unit (4) of the measuring arrangement (6) and further to the data processing unit (7); the data processing unit (7) is provided with a number of communication units (8; 81, 82, 83), adjusting units (9; 91, 92, 93, 94), and analytical units (10; 101, 102, 103, 104) so that in the receiving stage of the measuring data, the communication units (8; 81, 82, 83) are arranged to receive digital measuring data from different master units (4; 41, 42, 43) and to operate as independent units in relation to each other; in the adjusting stage, the adjusting units (9; 91, 92, 93, 94) are arranged to convert the received measuring data into appropriate instantaneous variable values, such as stress values; and in the analytical stage, the analytical units (10; 101, 102, 103, 104) are arranged to process the instantaneous variable values, such as stress values, in a desired way within the predetermined measuring period; for example, to analyse, present the results of the analysis and record the results.
