PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce labor, energy, and costs for the detoxification of soil as much as possible. SOLUTION: As a segregation means for segregating soil 100f particles 1 mm or below, preferably 0.2 mm or below in particle size which contain most of harmful substances, an apparatus for pretreating polluted soil is constituted of a column body 11 into which soil 100 is charged, screens 12a-12c which are installed at intervals in the column body 11 along the height of it and whose mesh sizes are decreased downward, a vibrator 13 for vibrating the body 11, discharge openings 14a-14d for discharging segregated soil 100a, 100c, 100e, 100f form the body 11, and hot air supply machines 15a, 15b which are fitted to the body 11 and supply hot air 101 to dry soil 100b, 100d.
