The device for chopping and emission of straw to be strewn in animal stalls or similar incorporates equipment for feeding a straw bale to a chopping unit. The feeding equipment (1) comprises a feed box with a open insertion end and at its other end is provided with a blowing box, in which is arranged a chopping wheel (2). - The blowing box is provided with at least one outlet channel (3) for discharge of chopped straw. In use, the device is maintained at a suitable angle so that the bales slide downwards by force of gravity to come into contact with the chopping wheel.
