PURPOSE: A microcontroller for performing core logic power shut- down while keeping completeness of input/output port is provided to shut down power of microcontroller core logic while maintaining control and/or status of the integrated circuit input-output circuits. CONSTITUTION: A microcontroller integrated circuit having low power standby capabilities while maintaining input-output port integrity, comprising microcontroller core logic, input-output port logic, input-output port logic adapted to store output logic levels, interface logic connected between microcontroller core logic and input-output port logic, and a power switch connected to microcontroller core logic and adapted for connection to a power source, power switch being controlled by input-output port logic; wherein, the microcontroller core logic controls the output logic levels of input-output port logic when the power source is connected to microcontroller core logic, and when the power source is disconnected from microcontroller core logic then the output logic levels of input-output port logic remain in the same state as they were just before the power source was disconnected from microcontroller core logic. |
