METHOD FOR THE DECONTAMINATION OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS

The method includes the establishing of contact between the material to be decontaminated and diluted solution containing carbonate in the presence of ion-exchange particles which either contain or are bound to a chelate-forming agent. There follows separation of the ion-exchange particles from the carbonate-containing diluted solution. The radioactive materials subjected to treatment can be natural ones shich as soils, or man-made materials such as concrete or steel being subjected to contamination. 13 claims
