Buoyant oral therapeutic dosage forms include at least one structural element with hollow cavities. Specifically the structural element may be a foamed or microporous polymer matrix, e.g. of polyolefin, polyamide, polyester, polystyrene, polyacrylate, PTFE, PVC, polyvinylidene chloride or polysiloxane, e.g in the form of a foldable or rollable film or a tablet core or layer. Alternatively, the structural elements may be hollow particles, e.g. of glass or ceramics, incorporated in a drug-contg. matrix (esp. hydrogel) or coated with a drug-contg. compsn. esp. for use in capsules). The dosage forms may be provided with a release-controlling membrane.
