PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the profile generation cost of a printer. SOLUTION: A reference image is printed by a printer 9 and the print contents are photographed by a digital camera 2 with its flash 'ON' and 'OFF', respectively. The obtained image data are transferred to a computer 3 to find body color component data, showing the spectral reflection factor of the print contents and image data, when the print contents are lightened up with standard light (D50) are generated. Then the generated image data are compared with the data of the reference image to generate the profile of the printer 9. Consequently, the profile can be generated without using expensive dedicated measuring instrument and the profile generation cost is suppressed low.
