Measurement of fluorescence cross-correlations comprises measuring the correlation between two or more types of fluorophore-labelled particles which have different decay curves and are excited by identical spectral frequencies. An Independent claim is included for a device for measurement of fluorescence cross-correlations comprising a system for exciting fluorophores in a sample (3) and a correlation detector (4, 5) equipped for time-resolved detection of fluorescence signals.
