PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member having an antifouling surface which is resistant to the adhesion of stains such as deposits and contaminants. SOLUTION: A member having a base material and a surface layer, formed on the base material, which comprises a hydrophobic resin and a photocatalytic oxide is provided. The resin and the oxide are micro-dispersed and exposed on the surface of the surface layer, and the oxide is hydrophilized by the photocatalytic action generated by the photo-excitation of the oxide. The oxide in the vicinity of the excited oxide is also hydrophilized. In the surface in which hydrophobic parts and hydrophilic parts are existent adjacently, a hydrophilic deposit compatible with a hydrophilic part is incompatible with an adjacent hydrophobic part, while a hydrophobic deposit compatible with a hydrophobic part is incompatible with an adjacent hydrophobic part, so that both hydrophilic and hydrophobic deposits can not adhere to the surface of the member or adheres only unstably to the surface. In this way, the deposits are removed easily from the surface of the member to keep the surface clean. |
