摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium of high sensitivity and high shelf stability which has excellent characteristics of recording and reproducing a record at wavelengths of 620-660 nm and enables execution of recording and reproduction at a wavelength of 780 nm. SOLUTION: This optical recording medium has novel azo metal complex dyestuff obtained from the reaction of at least one kind of azo compound expressed by a general formula (whereind R1 denotes a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, an aryl or an alkenyl allowed to be substituted respectively, R2 a substituent, (m) an integer of 0-3, R2 being allowed to be either identical or different when (m) is 2 or above, A and R five-or six-member heterocycles allowed to be substituted respectively and Y a group having active hydrogen) and a metal ion supply compound, and has a recording layer containing the dyestuff.
