PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong a service life by executing simple wear resistance processing with respect to normal structure, to save time and labor and a working cost for reproducing and to realize recycling without causing the pollution of environment. SOLUTION: This fixing rotary body 3a is constituted so that an unfixed toner image is thermally fixed at a supporting body 2 supporting the unfixed toner image while carrying the supporting body 2 by interposing it between the coat surface layers 3a1 thereof and the coat surface layer 3b1 of the other fixing rotary body 3b. Then, at least either of the rotary bodies 3a and 3b is provided with a heating source 4. Then, a silica protection layer 6 is formed at the surfaces of the respective end parts 3a3 of a base material 3a2 which are not provided with the surface layer 3a1 so as to protect it by rigidity, wear resistance or the like.
