PURPOSE: A method for changing transmitting/receiving mode for a facsimile is provided to change automatically the facsimile into the transmission mode if a document is loaded when setting the facsimile as the receiving mode. CONSTITUTION: The method for changing transmitting/receiving mode for a facsimile includes following processes. A central processing unit(10) of a facsimile confirms whether an external telephone(95) connected with the facsimile in parallel is hooked off or not. If the external telephone(95) is hooked off, the central processing unit(10) confirms whether a key for setting the facsimile as a receiving mode is inputted or not. If the key for setting the facsimile as a receiving mode is inputted, the central processing unit(10) checks through a sensor unit(80) whether a document is loaded or not. If the document is loaded, the central processing unit(10) identifies whether a CED(Called Station Identification) signal from the outside facsimile is received or not. As a result, if the CED(Called Station Identification) signal from the outside facsimile is received, the central processing unit(10) scans the loaded document, processes the scanned data as a predetermined coding method and thereafter transmits the data to the outside facsimile through a modem(50). If the document is not loaded, the central processing unit(10) performs a receiving operation of the facsimile data in order to receive the data from the outside facsimile. As above, if the CED signal from the outside facsimile is not received, the central processing unit(10) performs a receiving operation of the facsimile data.
