The arrangement includes a pedal (1) comprising a lever (2) which is carried on a cross-tube (6) bearing and fixed to a tread-plate (3). The lever is formed as a two-armed lever and carried on the cross-tube so that when the splashboard is deformed into a free foot space, the lever (2) with the tread-plate is pivoted towards the splashboard. The pedal may operate an actuating lever (9) which transfers pedal forces to a plunger rod (12).
